About Kasey

Kasey Gaylord-Opalewski has been designing, growing, and coordinating modern digital programming for non-profit organizations since 2002. She has over 20 years of “on-air” expertise as an educator and moderator for digital interactive classes. Through the years, Kasey has obtained innumerable accolades for her energetic and interesting marine science and conservation displays. She focuses on teen packages in addition to public programming for adults, similar to Science Cafes {and professional} growth for educators and lifelong learners. Most lately, Kasey co-authored “Defining Interactive Digital Studying in Museum Training: A Shared Perspective” (2019) within the Journal of Museum Training, Vol. 44, No. 3, 229–241.

Kasey specializes within the interpretation and translation of scientific analysis ideas and makes use of strategic framing strategies to guide advanced conversations, similar to these targeted on local weather change. She is an Alumni member of the Nationwide Community for Ocean and Local weather Change Interpretation, a year-long examine circle that helps to convey local weather change sources and coaching to communities of employees, volunteers and professionals. Kasey is a Licensed Interpretive Information for the Nationwide Affiliation of Interpretation and has been a Licensed Teacher for the Florida Grasp Naturalist Program. Kasey has in depth information in growing environmental curriculum, lesson plans and designing and coordinating touring displays. Kasey has beforehand labored within the animal husbandry and rehabilitation fields, working with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, African penguins, California sea lions, Pygmy sperm whales, Tough-toothed dolphins and numerous species of sea turtles.

Kasey initially hails from North Dakota and holds a B.A. in Biology from Minnesota State College Moorhead (2001), a Graduate Certificates in Coastal Research (2004), and M.S. in Environmental Training (2006), each from Nova Southeastern College.

Kasey presently lives in SW Florida along with her husband, canine, cat, and turtle. She likes to spend time studying and doing something outdoor, particularly climbing, paddling, and tenting.
